Abstract

Introduction Central venous line insertion is a common procedure in the hospital setting, but as an invasive procedure, it is not free from potential complications, which include infectious, thrombotic, and mechanical aspects. The latter include vascular perforation, arrhythmias, cardiac perforation, tamponade and, although exceptional, knotting of the guidewire has been documented. Case Figure 1.
