We are delighted to announce a partnership between the British Journal of Cardiology (BJC) and the Society of Cardiothoracic Surgery of Great Britain and Ireland (SCTS).
The partnership will foster relations between general cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery, especially among trainees in either specialty.
Mr Simon Kendall, Consultant Cardiac Surgeon (James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough), and President of SCTS commented: “SCTS continues to be an innovative, forward thinking organisation, addressing the interests of all members of the cardiothoracic team and their patients. We are very pleased to have this partnership with the BJC. We envisage opportunities to further exchange ideas between our disciplines and to share and innovate advances between us”.
We are pleased to welcome Simon to our editorial board where he will represent the society. Two liaison colleagues have been appointed by the SCTS to work with the BJC: Mr Abdul Badran, Cardiothoracic Surgery SpR (University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust), the SCTS national trainee representative; and Mr Duncan Steele, ST7 Cardiothoracic Surgery (Manchester Royal Infirmary), SCTS Senior Cardiothoracic Trainee Representative UK & Ireland. Abdul and Duncan will coordinate reports from academic meetings, journal club focus papers and other activities to be announced shortly.
