Professor Martin is Deputy Pro-Vice Chancellor for Equalities and Professor of Clinical Pharmacology at the University of Birmingham.  She is a consultant in General Medicine and Clinical Pharmacology at University Hospital Birmingham Foundation Trust where she leads the Hypertension Service. Her expertise has been recognised by a Fellowship of the British Hypertension Society. Her research has had a major impact on how hypertensive patients are diagnosed and treated.  Highlights include: investigations into ethnic differences in blood pressure measured by ambulatory, clinic and home monitoring. She has published papers relevant to the daily management of hypertension, including adverse drug reactions in antihypertensive treatment in the elderly, and the worrying trend of prescribing inappropriate (potentially teratogenic) antihypertensive agents to women of child-bearing age.

Dr Kaski is a consultant paediatric cardiologist and the lead (Director) of the Inherited Cardiovascular Diseases Unit at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, London. He has been working in the field of inherited cardiovascular diseases since 2004. His research interests are focused on the clinical and genetic characterisation of inherited cardiac disease and sudden death syndromes in childhood. He won the Young Investigator Award for Clinical Science from the European Society of Cardiology in 2008 for his work on the genetic basis of pre-adolescent hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

His specialist interests in paediatric inherited cardiac conditions include cardiomyopathies, inherited arrhythmia syndromes, aortopathy syndromes and rare cardiovascular genetic diseases.
