About

The British Journal of Cardiology (The BJC) is a unique peer-reviewed publication linking primary and secondary care. It provides an important bridge for hospital doctors and primary care health professionals with an interest in cardiology to share knowledge. We aim to reflect the changing face of cardiovascular medical practice and provide readers with an ideal vehicle for continuing professional development (CPD) and all the elements needed to offer an enhanced service of care for patients.

Established in 1993, the BJC has become renown over the past 31 years for providing high-quality reviews, state of the art clinical research and original papers in cardiovascular medicine, news, meeting reports and topical podcasts, as well as comprehensive e-learning programmes for CPD through BJC Learning. We recently launched new TV and audio channels – BJC TV, and BJC Podcasts to keep busy clinicans up-to-date with a comprehensive library of topical and educational videos, and podcasts.

Our prestigious print journal (ISSN 0969-6113) is quarterly and has a circulation of 1,500 in the UK. It is targeted equally to key doctors in primary and secondary care. Frequent updates and e-publication ahead of print are made online (ISSN 1753-4313), where all our resources are available in full. Our website receives over 41,000 page views per month from all over the world. We have over 34,000 online registrants on our database.

Members of our prestigious editorial board lead the field of cardiovascular medicine. The journal is led by Editors Terry McCormack and Henry Purcell.

We are the official journal of a number of distinguished medical bodies: the Aortic Dissection Charitable Trust, British Association for Cardiovascular Research and Prevention, British Association for Nursing in Cardiac Care, British Junior Cardiologists’ Association, British Society for Heart Failure, British Geriatrics Society Cardiovascular Section, British Heart Valve Society, the Cardiorenal Forum, HaemSTAR, HEART UK – The Cholesterol Charity, National Obesity Forum, Primary Care Cardiovascular Society, Scottish Heart and Arterial Risk Prevention group, Society for Cardiothoracic Surgery in Great Britain and Ireland, and the UK Stroke Forum.
