Abstract

Introduction Cardiovascular disease accounts for more than three million deaths in Europe annually, of which, coronary artery disease (CAD) is a leading cause.1 The burden of mortality and morbidity associated with CAD, and, in particular, acute coronary syndrome (ACS), is high.
