Introduction Cardiovascular disease (CVD) represents a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. It is estimated that 17.9 million deaths (representing 32% of all deaths) in 2019 were attributed to CVD.1 With a high prevalent global burden of the disease, there is a major impetus on prevention.
